Employers Completely Ban Facebook and MySpace

According to a 2008 survey by Challenger, Gray & Christmas as reported in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, almost 25% of all employers block their workers' access to social media websites such as Facebook and MySpace.

Although the majority of responding companies reported that they have no formal policy regarding these websites, 23% completely block employee access. Because one-third of the companies indicated they consider these sites to be major drains on worker productivity, it is likely that an even higher percentage of employers will block access to social media sites in the future.
